Vitosha Mountain
Vitosha Mountain is the most visited mountain in Bulgaria. It rises right above Sofia and is one of the main symbols of the Bulgarian capital. With its highest peak - Cherni Vrah (2290 m.) it is considered the fourth mountain in Bulgaria among the others in the country by a bunch of criteria one of which is the amount of visits a year by tourists.
Vitosha is the first of all the Bulgarian mountains where hiking tourism in Bulgaria began and developed successfully. The date 27 August 1895 is thought of as the beginning of the hiking tourism.
Zlatnite Mostove (Golden Bridges) is one of the most popular tourist places on Vitosha Mountain, located at an altitude of 1400 m above sea level in the Vladaya sub-part of the Northern Range of Vitosha. What is most notorious here is one highly curious phenomenon - the moreni, which forms a sort of a stone river.
