Sinite Kamani

Sinite Kamani National ParkThe Sinite Kamani Nature Park in Bulgaria is famous for its nature landmarks. Halkata - the arc-like stone garland, having, according to the legends, magical powers - is one of the symbols of the town of Sliven. The forms that the nature has formed in the cave Zmeevi dupki - Zmejat, Orelat and Vladishkija tron are gorgeous. The ancient beech forest in the vicinity of the Kushbunar spring in the region of Karandila is quite majestic.

The specific climate and lay conditions of the nature park are the reasons for the great variety of flora and fauna. The plant species are more than 1000, about 900 of which are high species. The invertebrate animals are represented by 235 species - eight species of fish, nine species of amphibians, nineteen species of reptiles, 165 species of birds and 34 species of mammals. The landscape is of mountain type - steep slopes some of which are between 290 and 1181 meters above the sea level. The north and northwest winds, the wind called bora, also known as the wind of the town of Sliven, and the night breeze are typical for the region. Many rivers flow through the park and their river-beds form numerous pools and waterfalls.
Sinite Kamani in Bulgaria has a huge cultural and historic heritage. Settlements of the Thracian and Illyrian tribes from the stone ages were situated according to researches. In the regions Hisralaka, Daula, Dzendema, Djuleva reka, Mollova kuriya there can be seen remains of walls from the fortress Tuida, the settlements Marichino and Marinino, and also healing springs and ancient roads. Some of the Bulgarian churches and monasteries in the area, called Slivenska malka sveta gora (small Holy wood), built in thirteenth - fourteenth century, were successfully preserved over the years. The haiduti movement (liberation movement of Bulgaria during the Turkish yoke) is in close connection to the region - there is almost no gorge, spring or spot which do not evoke memories of some particular events in the life of the brave voivodi - folk leaders - Hadhji Dimitar, Panaiot Hitov, Georgi Trankin, Stoil voivoda, the Apostle of liberty Vassil Levski.
